Greensboro Opera - Glory Denied (Older Alyce)
Tom Cipullo’s, Glory Denied – April 11 & 13, 2025
Glory Denied is the harrowing and heroic operatic story of Floyd “Jim” Thompson, who was captured in March 1964 and became the longest-held prisoner of war in American history. This opera spotlights the capture, torture, and multiple escape attempts with the trials of his young wife, Alyce, who, feeling trapped, made choices that forever tied her fate to the war she despised. Hailed as an honest look at Vietnam, Glory Denied demands that we rethink the definition of a true American hero.
